Southbank Printmakers
Original fine art print gallery
We have been so pleased with the speed with which 73 Wells Street has become home - quite a feat after 26 years on Gabriel's Wharf! To celebrate our move we would like to invite all our subscribers to an opening party on 9th July, 6-8pm. Please email info@southprintmakers if would like to come along.
This month sees the return of our themed events, starting with a display of London prints in the gallery and available online. We also have our regular Artists in Focus, with displays in gallery by Natasha Godfrey and Julie Sullock. If you've always had a yen to try printmaking then why not sign up for next month's drypoint workshop - no experience needed and wine included!
Iconic London prints
A selection of work to celebrate our fabulous city is available on our website and being shown in the gallery window.
St Paul's by Gabriel's Wharf etching by Kevin Wright
Southbank Printmakers is celebrating the amazing city of London this month. Ten of our printmakers are displaying 35 prints depicting many iconic London landmarks. From St. Paul’s Cathedral, through the financial district, along the Thames with its many beautiful bridges and art galleries, our printmakers have captured the amazing diversity of London’s architecture.
When you visit Southbank Printmakers you will see one of our members picked out as the Artist in Focus, with extra wall and browser space given to their work.
NATASHA GODFREY: 8th-21st June
Natasha creates etchings inspired by the London she loves, its architecture, shopfronts, landmarks, and overlooked details. From Bar Italia in Soho to Shakespeare’s Globe, she is interested in capturing the places that give the city its identity.
On her process, Natasha says, 'on my illustrations of the Globe theatre I leave traces of ink on the printing plate, each piece carries its own atmosphere, echoing London’s familiar cloudy skies.'
Alongside these iconic scenes, Natasha also make prints of simple things that bring her joy, such as a small Lego heart; sometimes the smallest subjects can say the most. Find more of her work @londonillustrator on Instagram.

Julie is interested in the layering of colours and how different colours behave when placed next to each other, creating different perspectives. She enjoys experimenting with contrasting mediums, mixing the translucent qualities of etching with the bright opaque colours of screenprinting, building up layers, and creating different moods.
Julie has exhibited for some years at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea. In 2022 she was featured in Country Life magazine online, when James Elwes stated, 'the way her colours are soft and blurry mark-making recall some of the greats of Modern British painting; there are nods to John Piper, Howard Hodgkin and Ivon Hitchens in her work which feel rich and comforting. One to watch. There's a joy and zest to her printmaking, which we all need right now.'
Julie had a print accepted into the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2005. She has also exhibited in many ‘Open Exhibitions’ at the Bankside Gallery and the Mall Galleries. She studied Fine Art at St Martin’s School of Art and completed an MA at Brighton Polytechnic. Her prints have a painterly quality to them and many are one-offs, involving many layers of colour and shapes, using a variety of techniques.
